ABOUT THE AUTHORS

POLLY EASON

Hello, I'm Polly!

Originally from the UK, I relocated to Canmore, Canada with my family of seven in 2004 . Here, I fostered a love for the outdoors with my three brothers and sister. You can find me hiking, skiing, canoeing and camping on the weekends.

I always felt I was born to be a mother. With future goals of teaching, I have always been drawn to children and the joy that they bring to a family. It broke my heart learning how many people struggle with infertility. This sparked my passion and I wanted to tell the stories of the couples who struggle to add to their families, the thousands of dollars they spend to even attempt to do this, and help find a way to get funding within Alberta.

EMILY THWAITES

Hello, I'm Emily!

I immigrated to Canada from the UK with my family in 2011. I'm an avid writer, photographer and adventurer. You can find me seeking out the latest restaurants, photographing fashion shows and exploring this beautiful country with my girlfriend, Molly.

I equally share a maternal instinct, and have spent many years working with children, including as a Child Development Assistant. Since I was very young, I've always felt strongly in my heart that I want to be a mother one day. Having a female partner, IVF has become a very real option for me in the future when I'm ready to start a family. With no financial support from the Alberta government, it's extremely disheartening to know my dream of being a mother is hindered by the hefty cost of IVF.

This prompted my desire to share the untold stories of those who've experienced IVF in Alberta. Whether successful or unsuccessful, the people who opened up to us all shared a common connection – the desire to be parents and the pressures of time and money.
